Command Authorization Success…

Survivors of the Glow,

The late summer air hangs heavy over the wastes — dry, dusty, and thick with the last stubborn heat of the season. Cicadas (or whatever mutated things still buzz out there) drone in the distance, and the days stretch just a little longer before the dark comes early. Perfect time for another phantom transmission to cut through the static.

This one is a full 9-hour cursed VHS marathon from Horrible Home Video’s Channel 42. Retro comedy, horror, sci-fi, cartoons, vintage commercials, and original station bumpers, all wrapped in that authentic late-night tape-hiss glow. Featured segments include Pete & Pete, Winter Steele, Duckman, Monsters, The Twilight Zone, Ray Bradbury Theater, Alien Nation, and more.

Ideal background radiation for these lingering warm evenings: running while you patch armor under a dusty sunset, drafting campaign notes as the light fades, or letting it play low while the last of the summer heat radiates off the ruins. That pre-Fall late-night feeling hits different when the air still carries the memory of hotter days.

Late-summer outpost protocol:

  • Windows cracked for the evening breeze (filter optional).
  • Low lights, maybe a single flickering bulb.
  • Pair with whatever scavenged cold drink still survives in the cooler.

What moments jumped out at you this time? Any commercial or segment that feels especially right for the end of summer in the wasteland? Drop your findings below.

Stay cool where you can. Stay irradiated where you must.
